Some ideas are starting to percolate for the planetary romance game. As I mentioned, I'm borrowing from some old D&D ideas that never got used. One of them was a world where I flipped the usual species setup. There's some talk going around that one of the reasons John Carter failed at the box office is poor marketing. I dunno if that's true or not, as I haven't had cable since 2003, but I did think the two theatrical trailers were pretty awful. (I did like the earlier teaser trailer, but I can see how it wouldn't have wider appeal.)

I saw it last night with John and Shawn, and we all enjoyed it. I don't have time for a full review before today's game, unfortunately. Maybe I'll write one later.

Some things in particular that I liked:

• Dejah Thoris (did I spell that right?) was a badass swordswoman, not a damsel in distress
